Gregory Parkinson

Gregory Parkinson was born in the north of England.

He had a formal art and design education, specializing in fashion and textiles from Newcastle University.  Upon graduation, he worked with "The Collection," a premier London-based textiles studio.

This experience helped him to realize his potential as a designer with a strong sense of color, fabrication and an original eye for decoration.

He re-located to Los Angeles in 1989.

Whilst working for a large sportswear company, he simultaneously collaborated on projects with various stylists.  After many music videos and commercials, the desire to create something personal resulted in a small collection of 15 dresses.  Hand-dyed, spliced and layered together, the style became signature, one that has since become a staple in the designer's varied repertoire.

The response to these dresses was overwhelming and encouraged him to open a boutique in order to showcase the limited editions of these handcrafted garments.

From 7372 Beverly Boulevard, his reputation grew and a small feature in "W" by Natalie Massenet prompted a phone call from Bonnie Pressman of Barneys New York.  After two years of custom-made evening wear, Gregory produced his first ready-to-wear collection.

His first customers were Barneys New York and Linda Dresner.  Twelve years later, they still carry the collection.
