Amelia Toro

In her Spring 2009 collection, Amelia Toro's pieces range from the tailored to the de-structured.  As is typical of a large percentage of spring collections, the recurring themes of pastel colors (mostly pink in this case) and florals ("Florals?  For spring?  Ground breaking."  Miranda Priestly in "Devil Wears Prada") are prominent.

But the red florals of the first piece really make the whole show pop.  It combines the traditional florals of spring with something bold like red (or black in some cases).

Toro also showcases flowy, ruffled pieces, which also appears to be a trend this spring (see the Trends entry) but does include a few very tailored pieces.  The contrast is quite interesting.
